They can be seen with a special aura and will Terastalise in the battle with you but their Terastalisation will break if enough damage is inflicted. You can also find special Wild Tera Pokémon throughout Paldea.
You will need a Tera Orb in order to Terastallize a Pokémon and, in Paldea, you will need to recharge the Tera Orb after use by either touching crystals of Terstal Energy or going to a Pokémon Center. Tera Types cannot be passed down by breeding, with the hatched Pokémon's Tera Type being based upon its own types with a 50/50 chance of either type, and any Abilities or moves that would change the Pokémon's type, either the user's or an opposing Terastallized Pokémon, will not change the type of that Pokémon. These are not specifically set by species, with the Tera Type being either of its standard types, but you can find different Tera Type Pokémon through Tera Raid Battles.
When it is Terastallized, it will change its type to its special Tera Type. This mechanic can be used once per battle and when activated, creates a jewel and luster around each PokémonĮach Pokémon in Paldea can Terastallize and each Pokémon has a special Tera Type.
